The Emery Lady Spartans failed to score a goal as they suffered an 8-0 loss on the road against 4A Provo Thursday evening in the season opener.

Opening their second season of existence, the Lady Spartans were outmatched from the beginning as Provo opened a 4-0 lead by the end of the first half. The final stanza played out in similar fashion as the game was called do the mercy rule.

Hannah Fox and Kiara Maryott led the way for Provo with two goals a piece. Six players scored at least one goal for Provo in the lopsided win.

The Lady Spartans will return to the field on Tuesday and again play an opponent apart of a higher classification when they travel to Juab. The first home contest of the season will take place on Thursday, Aug. 18 against Union.
