Emery High School junior golfer Trevin Wakefield was named a 3A All-State Honorable Mention, it was announced by the Utah Section of the Professional Golfers Association of America.
Wakefield delivered a dynamic junior campaign as he led the Spartans to a spot in the season ending 3A State Tournament in October. While the team failed to make the cut for the second and final day, Wakefield found himself in the mix for a State Championship.
After the second day of competition Wakefield ended with a 154 after shooting a 75 and 79 respectively. The solid outing placed him 11th overall for the tournament.
During the regular season he ended seventh in the highly competitive Region 12. Trailing the top five by just 11-strokes, Wakefield cemented his place among the best golfers in the state throughout the season.
The Utah Section PGA extends the honor of First Team All-State to the top ten golfers in each classification, the next ten are selected to the Second Team, and the next ten after that are selected to Honorable Mention.
The Utah Section of the PGA of America has been actively supporting high school golf for over 25 years. Twenty years ago they developed the Utah High School All-State Golf Program.
