The Carbon Lady Dinos suffered a loss for the first time this season, falling to the Grantsville Cowboys 52-41 Monday night at home.

Locked in a competitive game throughout the four quarters, Grantsville garnered the slight edge by outscoring Carbon 16-10 in the fourth quarter and shooting 50-percent from the field for the game.

Despite the loss senior Makenna Blanc delivered a stellar performance, scoring a team-high 15 points on an efficient 5-9 shooting performance. Blanc added to her stat line by recording seven steals and five rebounds.

Sydney Orth and Madi Orth each recorded six points, while Alex Cartwright finished with five. As a team Carbon shot 32-percent from the field and 42-percent from the three-point line.

Grantsville’s Maison White posted a game best 17 points to lead all scorers as the Cowboys improved to 3-1 on the season. Sophomore Ellie Thomas chipped in with 13 points, while Emily Backus contributed 11.

Now 5-1 on the young season, the Lady Dinos will have an opportunity to get back on the winning track when they return to the court Tuesday night to meet South Summit.

Following Tuesday’s outing Carbon will play one more non-region game before the Christmas Break on Saturday at home against Mountain Crest.
