Tony Gabossi, 93, passed away peacefully in his daughter’s home in Wellington on the evening of December 14, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.
Born in Ouray, Colorado on August 18, 1927 to two Italian immigrants, Julia Delezzare and Frank Gabossi, Tony only spoke Italian until the age of four when he began school. He was the third child out of 10. At age 16, he started working in the mine with his father, meanwhile completing a high school education in Oak Creek.
He served his country honorably in Korea as an airborne ranger for two years. When he arrived home, he married his only life partner, Pat Gabossi, on July 22, 1955. They had three children together.
Tony loved fishing, hunting, bowling, and gambling. He was particularly lucky with Keno. He and Pat loved to travel together and looked forward to their frequent trips to Las Vegas.
Tony is survived by his daughter Kim Gabossi, Wellington; sons, Tony M (Cami) Gabossi, Vernal, John C (Tammy) Gabossi, Detroit, MI; six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by his wife Pat, whom he greatly cared for after her Alzheimer’s diagnosis.
Per his request, he will be privately laid to rest next to his wife Pat in a private family gathering.
A very special thanks to Symbii and Rick Stockburger for all the care they offered and for being a great friend to him; and also thanks to his neighbors Richard Rowley and Kelly Nielsen for all the help they offered over this last year as he battled cancer.
Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome daily and may share memories online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
