7-9-25 Battle Baseball 13U prepares for Pacific Southwest Regional Tournament

Teams of 13-year-olds from Arizona, California, Hawaii, Nevada, and Utah will descend upon Carbon County in late July for the opportunity to represent the Pacific Southwest Region at the World Series held in New York in mid-August. One local team, the Battle 13U squad, will be coached by Darek Martinez, Rob Smith, Justin Powell, and Timmy Urbanik and represent Carbon County.

Ahead of the upcoming tournament, three members of the Battle team joined KOAL's Drive Time Sports. Jaxton Smith, Alex Martinez, and Mason Powell talked about winning the state championship and what's next for the team.

7-17-25 Steve Bortsein joins Drive Time Sports to talk MLB All-Star game and the second half of the season

Long-time Drive Time Sports contributor Steve Bortstein joined Jordan Buscarini on the show Thursday afternoon.

Together, the duo discussed the MLB All-Star Game, which ended in a tie-breaker following a 6-6 final score. The swing-off did not feature the game's biggest names, as certain players had left the game. Was this a bad look for MLB?

With the second half of the season now underway, the duo discussed which teams are likely to make the biggest splash ahead of the trade deadline and the current standings.
