
Castleview Hospital along with Utah State University Extension and the CARE Coalition are excited to offer Quick & Easy Cooking Classes for adults. All classes will be held virtually on the CARE Coalition Facebook page as a live event. Extension Assistant Professor, Christina Pay took time to speak with Castle Country Radio about the services they offer, as well as discuss the cooking courses.
“So Family and Consumer Sciences covers wide variety of topics everything from food preservation, cooking classes, health and nutrition. I’m currently teaching parenting classes, we do relationship – building stronger relationship courses. Anything in between, we kind of provide the expertise and the research-based information that is out there on those topics,” explained Pay. Throughout the year the organization offers the public informational classes and this is why they’re again offering the public Quick & Easy Cooking Classes.
“We’ve actually partnered with a couple of other organizations to help make them better and stronger and with a twist this time we have invited members of the community to come be celebrity chefs,” explained Pay. The first course was offered on January 13 and featured Carbon County Commissioner Casey Hopes who made Turkey Potato Soup for guests virtually. It was a huge hit and the next course will be featured on January 27 with Linda Johnston who will make skillet lasagna.
The Quick & Easy Cooking Classes begin at 7:00 pm each evening. “We are hosting these on two websites or two Facebook pages – Carbon County Extension on Facebook and then also CARE 4 Carbon on Facebook. Both pages will have the recipes posted, we can put them up the day before so they have access to those and can get the recipes and cook along with us, that would be great,” stated Pay.
