
The Pinnacle Panther Boys basketball team had a busy weekend. After celebrating Senior Night in Price on Friday, they were on the road Saturday for a contest with the Mount Vernon Patriots. The Panthers struggled offensively and the Patriots took advantage of it taking the 53-36 win.
Mount Vernon sits at 11-3 and holds the No. 5 spot in the state RPI rankings.
Pinnacle started out the first quarter putting only six points on the board, by halftime Mount Vernon pushed their lead to 26-18. In the second half the Panthers collected another 18 points but the Patriots were too much out scoring them in the third quarter by 11.
For the Patriots, Matt Lambson led all scorers with 15 points. Jake Jorgensen added 14 and Chris Whittfield chipped in with eight.
The Panthers were led by Christian Winder with nine points and eight rebounds. Landen Hardy added eight and grabbed four boards and Dominic Gutierrez added seven.
The Panthers will catch their breath quickly and then will be on the road once again on Tuesday night for a date with Telos. Telos is a team out of Orem they sit at 7-3 and are ranked No. 9 in the RPI.
Pinnacle will then be off until Tuesday February 2nd, when the Pirates of Green River will be in town.
