There was a Price City Council meeting held on January 27 and Castle Country Radio was able to sit down afterwards with Price City Mayor Michael Kourianos to talk about downtown signage and Youth Council.

“We talked about the Main Street Pilot Project, we’re talking about blade signs and different businesses. The Utah Coal Strike Team has put a grant together so that businesses that want to apply for a $1,000.00 grant that will go towards a blade sign to change the dynamics of our Main Street. There’s been several businesses that have put in on it, hoping that more will and that will help the look of little bit of Main Street,” said Mayor Kourianos. The hope is to have good visible signage throughout the downtown area.

“I’ve been talking with our Youth Council and if anybody has noticed in our one corner on the north end of the City Hall block some white sand bags, hopefully, we’ll get this project going.  We’re going to build an ice-skating rink right there, a temporary ice-skating rink so people can enjoy it right here close to city hall but on Main Street that’s kind of been a goal of ours and so we are doing that,” said Mayor Kourianos. The Youth Council have been busily working on this project with assistance from students from USU Eastern and hope to have it completed soon.

“Its just nice to have college students and our high school students/junior high students be a part of our community. They’re helping sell our community through their eyes and its exciting to be a part of it. I give great support to Terri Tubbs in her helping me with that vision also,” said Mayor Kourianos. The city has enjoyed working with the Youth Council and their advisor on various projects within the city.
