The Price City Culture Connection has been hosting performers virtually for almost a year now and seem to have it down to a science. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Price City Council Member, Layne Miller to talk about the event and to talk about future events as well.
Price City has worked really hard to be able to offer these concerts virtually to community members. “We’ve learned a lot. When we started doing this, we really didn’t have people we could go to, to ask questions, we kind of had to figure it out on our own. Anna Allen who does our sound and does most of this was actually talking to a Music Promoter in California, and his comment was, you are one of the few people in the west who are doing this. So it’s not just a rarity in Utah, it’s rare all over. So we’ve had to learn to do it. We’ve made a few mistakes but now I think we’re on our game and doing really well,” stated Miller. They will be hosting the Straight Canyon Band on Thursday, February 11 at 7:00 pm. The band features music from the good ole’ days to the hottest hits of today. They are sure to get you up and dancing all night long.
Once the weather starts warming up officials hope to start offering outdoor concerts again in the Price City Peace Garden but they plan to continue offering the concerts virtually as well. “We are going to continue to do both. There’s a couple of reasons for that, number one, is we are finding that because of this whole COVID lockdown thing that a lot of the groups from around the west who tour through Utah aren’t scheduling a tour and that how we get most of our groups. They happen to be coming through Utah and they stop at Price City. Also the groups are able to practice. So we’re doing something quite simple we’re going to focus on local groups,” explained Miller. Officials will feature out-of-area groups when its possible but the majority of performers will be from the local area.
To access the virtual Culture Connection concert, visit the Price City Facebook page. “All you have to do is go to our Facebook page and you can listen. Just as a side note, we’re averaging between 1,300/1,700 people listening. So if you think about a big crowd in the Peace Gardens is 300 or 400. We’re entertaining a lot more people than we did before, that’s not necessarily just live but you can listen to them anytime. So it’s become really, really, popular, people are joining us from all over,” said Miller.
