The Carbon Lady Dinos suffered a 48-37 loss to the Richfield Wildcats in the final road game of the regular season Tuesday night.

Looking to rebound from a loss Thursday on the road against Emery, the Lady Dinos were unable to sustain consistency on the offensive end of the floor. Holding a one-point lead at the end of the first quarter Carbon was outscored the following three in the eventual loss.

Freshman Madi Orth led the way for Carbon as she finished with a team best 13 points, including the team’s only two makes from the three-point line. Despite shooting a solid 15-21 from the foul line, Carbon was held to just 10 field goals for the game.

The Lady Dinos received a boost from senior Makenna Blanc who ended with nine points to help pace the offense. Sydney Orth chipped in with six as seven different players ended with at least one point.

Richfield’s Nicole Willardson posted 18 points to lead all scorers in the home win for the Wildcats. Rebecca Poulson scored nine of her 12 points from the three-point line, while Kate Robinson ended with eight.

Tuesday’s meeting was the second of the season between the two schools. Carbon won the first back on Jan. 26 after rallying from a three-point deficit in the closing minutes.

With two games remaining in the regular season Carbon will have an opportunity to build momentum ahead of the 3A State Tournament. Up next will be a home game with San Juan on Thursday, before meeting the Grand Red Devils on Saturday, also at home.
