Locked in a battle for four quarters, the Carbon Dinos ended on the short end of the scoreboard as they suffered a 61-54 loss to the Richfield Wildcats Wednesday night in the final home game of the regular season.
Each of the first three quarters were decided by just one point as the Dinos and Wildcats went back-and-forth. Richfield managed to create space on the scoreboard late after converting timely buckets offensively.
Carbon senior Preston Condie recorded a double-double in the setback as he ended with 14 points and 13 rebounds. Condie also handed out a team high three assists.
As is typically the case against the defensive heavy Wildcats, points came at a premium. Carbon was held to just 48 shot attempts for the game, 23 of which came from the perimeter. As a team the Dinos converted just 19 field goals, finishing 40-percent from the field.
Noah Bradford scored 10 points to help push the Dinos offense along. Keenan Hatch ended with nine, while Max Lancaster chipped in with seven.
Richfield’s Dallin Stewart connected on three shots from deep to lead the Wildcats with 18 points. Max Robinson mirrored Stewarts production with 16 points. Will Robinson was the third member to hit the double-point plateau as he contributed 11.
With only one game remaining on the regular season slate the Dinos now hold a region record of 5-4. The regular season will come to a close on Friday with a lengthy road trip to Blanding to meet the San Juan Broncos.
The regular season finale will mark the second meeting of the season between the two teams. Carbon won the first meeting back on Jan. 20 by a final score of 78-71.
Live coverage of Friday’s game will air live on KRPX 95.3 The Peak beginning with the Landon’s Diesel Service Pre-Game Show at 6:30 p.m..
