Our loving mother, Pierina Sacco Crocco, 89, passed away February 27, 2021 with her son and daughter by her side in Price, Utah.

She was the third of five children born to Italian immigrants Ross and Virginia Barbetta Sacco in Kenilworth, Utah on June 29, 1931.

Pierina was a lifelong resident of Carbon County and a graduate of Carbon High School Class of 1949. She married our beloved father Johnnie Crocco on February 11, 1956 in Helper, Utah and they had two children, Brenda and Johnnie. She and her husband, Johnnie, resided in Kenilworth, Utah until his death in 1964. Several years later she moved to Price.

Pierina worked in retail all her life and was known by many in area for her dedicated service at Chuck’s Pharmacy and Tolman’s. However, her most important job and role in life was being a single parent, provider and a loving and devoted mother to her children. She was a constant presence in their lives. Pierina was very happy and proud to care for ReAnn and Demetria Campbell in their younger years and for being part of their lives as they’ve grown. Pierina loved that they considered her grandma.

She was a member and past president of the St. Anthony’s Altar Society in Helper, Utah for many years. She was also a member of the Italian Lodge and an avid Jazz fan. Pierina was very proud of her Italian heritage. Even though Pierina didn’t go far from home, she enjoyed her daily conversations with family and dear friends. She never missed a birthday or anniversary for those she knew.

She is survived by her children, Brenda Crocco, Johnnie (Julie) Crocco; brother, Ernie Sacco; sister, Ernestina (Joe) Perri; sisters-in-law, Marisa Sacco, Gaylene Crocco, Janet Barbiero and Joan Crocco; extended family, Bill and Renee Campbell; grandchildren, Jarod (Brittnay) Biondich, Mathew Biondich, ReAnn (Nick) Katsanevas, Demetria Campbell; and great-grandchildren, Brayden and Kyzer Biondich, Mackenzie Biondich and Stelio Katsanevas; and her beloved nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her husband, Johnnie Crocco; parents, Ross and Virginia Sacco; brother, Joe Sacco; sister, Grace (Frank) Givigliano; and sister-in-law, Antionette Sacco.

The family would like to give a special thanks to the Parkdale Care Center Staff for the care they’ve given to Pierina in these unusual times when we as a family could not be with her. Also, a special thanks to Symbii for the kind and gentle care in her last few days.
