Written from his own hand:

Thomas “Tom” Gene Ward, age 78, passed away March 20, 2021.

He was born on April 6, 1942 to Archie T. Ward and Gilda Weeks Ward in Provo, Utah.  Tom, the eldest, was one of four brothers, although he was the only survivor. Younger brothers Dwuane, Monte, and Johnie passed within six weeks of birth.

Two failed marriages produced three, near perfect children, Shawn (Bobbi Stevens) Ward, Krikit (Bill) Butcher, Carbon County residents, and Tiffany (Mike) Tease of Heber. From his wife Sandy, he inherited her three children from a previous marriage, Chelle (Rod) Brereton of Orem, Lynnette (Doug) Allred of Price, and Monica (Glenn) Grover of St. George.

Tom lived in Utah, Idaho and various places throughout the western states until migrating to Carbon County in 1979. He worked various construction projects, Interstate 15 from Fillmore to Willard Bay and I-80 from Tooele to Wendover. He contracted brick work in Idaho as well as Carbon County, worked on several schools in Utah and Idaho as a bricklayer, cement finisher, carpenter, pipelayer, whatever, until finally working in the coal mines of Carbon County where he retired. He lived with his third “Charm” wife Sandy, in Lower Miller Creek where only the prairie dogs vacation.

He thought himself a Cowboy and word wrangler, but it could never be proven with hard facts.

A celebration of Tom Wards’s life is scheduled for Friday, April 9, 2021, 11:00 a.m., Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.  Burial will follow in the Cleveland Cemetery.  Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price where friends are always welcome and may share memories of Tom online at www.mitchellfuneralhome.net.
