After their dominance of Richfield on Tuesday the Dinos softball team went on the road on Wednesday to Granstville to take on the Cowboys. And it would be a bigger challenge than recent games for Carbon, in that would take extra innings but the Dinos got the job done taking the 4-3 win.

Carbon has enjoyed recent success on the diamond with its only loss coming at the hands of Manti. They sit at the top of Region 12 with a 3-0 conference record, and as they head into April they only have three non-conference games remaining.

It was a relatively quiet game and a it rested in the hands of the pitchers for both teams. Haven Bryerly got the complete game win for the Dinos giving up seven hits and three earned runs striking out 18. For Grantsville, Austin Cowan pitched a gem as well giving up 12 hits and three runs, two earned, while striking out 7 Dinos.

Carbon was the first to score in the top of the third when Stevie Oman crossed the plate on an error by the first baseman. The scoring drought would end in the top of the sixth when Amya Prettyman would bring home Gianna Bruno on a single to center field. Prettyman would score later in the inning on an error by the third baseman.

Grantsville was able to tie it up in the bottom of the sixth when Mackenzie Allen would double to right field but that would be as close as the Cowboys would get. Carbon would go on to score a final run in the top of the eighth when Oman would ground into a fielders choice scoring Jenna Richards giving Carbon the win.

In what was really a defensive battle Lyndsey Madrigal would register three hits while Amya Prettyman and Stevie Oman would register one RBI each.

The Dinos will now look forward to Friday when they make the trip to Castle Dale to take on the Emery Spartans. The Spartans are coming off a big win against San Juan and sit at 7-2-1. Game time is set for 3:30 in what is sure to be a thrilling contest. In one of the few games played last year Carbon defeated the Spartans 11-1 in Price.

After Fridays game the Dinos will be on a well deserved break until April 6, when they will be home for region foe Grand County.
