The Spartans made the trip over the mountain to Nephi on Wednesday to take on the Juab Wasps. Both teams were coming off impressive wins, Emery beat region foe Grand on Tuesday afternoon 19-5 and Juab put a beat down on North Sanpete 18-0. The game would only take five innings and Juab using one pitcher, would no-hit the Spartans and take the 12-0 victory.

Juab has been a scoring machine lately scoring 59 runs in their last three games including a four hour marathon against Provo on Saturday in St. George.

The Spartans have been on a bit of a streak themselves winning four of their last five headed into Wednesday’s contest.

The Spartans were unable to generate any offense due to the pitching of Juab’s Dalin Ludlow who allowed no runs, no hits and struck out seven. On the other side The Spartans went through two pitchers with Luke Stilson getting the start and taking the loss going three innings and giving up nine runs (eight earned), Casen Miller would enter the game going one inning and giving up three runs.

Emery will need to shake the loss off and get ready for Grand to come into Castle Dale on Thursday before they take off till next week when they will make the long trip to Blanding to take on San Juan on Tuesday March 30. San Juan will make the trip to CastleDale next Friday April 2 and then the Spartans will have 11 days off before they take to the diamond.

The game with Grand is set to begin at 3:30.
