The Carbon School District weekly update shines light on the Preschool Program that the district offers. Preschool Coordinator, Beverly Martinez took some time from her busy schedule to share all the details of the Preschool Program.
The program has open enrollment taking place right now for any children interested in attending school next year. “We’ll our enrollment started this week on Monday and if you want your child to attend preschool in the Carbon School District next school year, you can give me a call. My office is at the Castle Valley Center, 637-9150. I do the enrollment for the preschool district wide. We do have preschools at Creekview, Sally Mauro, Wellington and Bruin Point. So if you would like your child to go to preschool please do give me a call,” said Martinez. This program is open to children ages 3 and 4 years old that live within the Carbon School District.
“Preschool is not funded in the state of Utah so we do have to charge a little bit of tuition. It’s $75.00 per month for the 4-year-old class and $50.00 per month for the 3-year-old class. The tuition would start in September, we start preschool the week of Labor Day,” explained Martinez. When students begin school parents will need to submit an immunization record and birth certificate to the preschool program.
The Preschool Program is first come, first serve and right now there are some open slots available at each school. “If you wait until Fall or closer to Fall there’s a good chance the preschool you want will be full and you’ll have to be on a waiting list in case someone moves. So now really is the time to get that taken care of,” said Martinez.
The district now has the Preschool Program listed on the website and their portion has some great tools for parents to use to help see where their child is developmentally. “It will have a tool on there called the Ages & Stages Questionnaire. That’s kind of a screen tool where the parent can go on and fill out a screener about their child and how their doing developmentally and that will let them know if their child is on track. It will give them suggestions of things that they can do to help improve that development or keep the child progressing. We’re really excited to have that as a tool on our website,” stated Martinez.
