The Lady Dinos had been enjoying an unblemished Region 12 record so far this season. On Friday, they traveled to Moab to face the Grand County Red Devils. Carbon struggled to find offense in the contest and Grand claimed the 9-2 victory.
The top of the third started out promising for the Dinos with a Molly Horsley double. Grand pitcher Jaci Shumway walked the next two batters and then Horsley would steal home putting a run on the board for Carbon. Shumway locked down the Dinos after that striking out the next three batters. The Dinos tried to get something going again in the seventh with a lead off double from Gianna Bruno. The Red Devils committed three errors in the inning one of which allowed Bruno to score.
Amaya Prettyman was the only Dino that collected multiple hits with two in the game, five other players added one hit each and Stevie Oman added one RBI.
On the mound for Carbon, Haven Bryerly got the start going just two innings and took the loss giving up six earned runs and five hits striking out two. Brooke Moosman came in going four and gave up three runs (two earned) on three hits and struck out three.
The Dinos have a 14-3 record and are currently ranked at No. 4 in the state RPI. They finish the region part of their schedule at 9-1 and have two non-conference games left starting on Wednesday when they will face the North Sanpete Hawks in the regular season home finale. The next day, Thursday, Carbon will head out on the road to battle against Juab.
The game with North Sanpete will take place at the Carbon County Fairgrounds Softball Complex and is scheduled to begin at 3:30.
