Carbon’s Savanna Rassmussen traveled to Mountain View Golf Course in West Jordan on Wednesday to compete in the opening round of the State Championships. Firing an opening round 97 put her on the outside looking in missing the cut and ending her season.

Rassmussen teed off in a trio with players from Richfield and Morgan in the 9:00 grouping starting at hole No. 10.  She carded a double bogey on her first hole and a bogey on her second. Unable to find a rhythm all day with nine doubles and six bogeys the round would come to a close finishing at +25.

Piper Harris of Richfield took the top spot in the individual category shooting a 77 on the first day and a 75 on the second for a total of 152. Ellie DeMond of Morgan, Becca Poulson of Richfield, Ava Issac of Judge Memorial and Isabel Young from San Juan rounded out the top five.

Rassmussen, a sophomore, was the only golfer the Lady Dinos had this season and she competed well enough to rank in the top 12 in 3A, which garnered her an invite to play in the State Championships.
