The United Way of Eastern Utah recently selected new board members and Director Megan Cummings was eager to come into Castle Country Radio to talk about it.
“One of the first things that stuck out to me when I first joined the organization is we are United Way of Eastern Utah so that covers seven counties Daggett, Duchesne, Uintah, all the way down to San Juan and a lot of the focus has been in Carbon County. Now there’s nothing wrong with that but I want to make sure that we are serving and engaging folks in all seven counties,” said Cummings. The new board members are from those areas which help to accommodate those needs in those counties.
“We’ve got folks who really know those areas and so like Elaine Gisler with Discover Moab she’s going to be a new board member, I’m excited to work with her. Let’s see, Natalie Randall with the Utah Tourism Industry Association along with Ann Anderson with Eastern Utah Community Credit Union and Sheriff Jeff Wood. So really great representation in addition to some of the other fantastic board members we’ve already had,” said Cummings. The non-profit organization is looking forward to working with the new board members.
United Way of Eastern Utah is excited to be hosting its annual Day of Caring event in September. Last year they were unable to conduct the event due to the COVID pandemic. However, they did encourage individuals to volunteer by helping their friends and neighbors through acts of community service. “We are back on September 11, Saturday, September 11 – save the date. We’ll kick off with some fun in the Lin’s parking lot, coffee and donuts and drinks, soft drinks and then we’ll get to volunteering. We’ll have lists of projects so just stay tuned for more information on where you can sign-up, exactly what the whole process is going to look like but for now just save the date,” explained Cummings. The Day of Caring event is the largest, single day volunteer effort in the community.
The organization is undergoing a facelift on their website so they ask for you to be patient as they get that changed. Any individuals that would like to learn more about United Way of Eastern Utah can visit their Facebook page.
