Each month Helper’s First Friday event comes up with a theme that they gear all of their events and activities around. This month’s theme has been set and it’s 80s Hair Bands. This is going to a fun occasion filled with various events and activities for the entire family to enjoy.
“We have vendors, hot dog eating contest, our street is closed down, water balloon contest. Three Little Llamas is hosting all the kids contests so for the kids 80s dress-up contest and kid’s karaoke you will go to Three Little Llamas. Then Canvas Alchemy is doing the best air instrument solo, and then we have the bounce houses again from Helper Saturday Vibes,” stated Organizer Ashley Hardy. This will take place on Friday, July 2 at 6:00 pm till 9:00 pm on Helper’s Historic Main Street.
There is some pre-registration that is encouraged for a few of their events such as the hot dog eating contest and the adult karaoke. “We’ve got several karaoke songs but we do have openings for you to pick your songs. So if you go sign up on there and pick an 80s song you’ll be first in the lineup,” explained Hardy. The adult karaoke and the hot dog eating contest will both be held at Main Street Park.
This month’s event is sponsored by Driggs Mortgage and West Coast Show Support. The owner and operator of Driggs Mortgage is the one who developed the idea for this month’s theme along with his wife. “We are in the process of opening two businesses on Main Street. One will be Aunt Nells Soda Fountain & Gift Shop, that my wife runs and owns. That is going to be in honor of her Aunt Nell who owned Service Drug in Bountiful, which was an institution up there for long, long, long time and then I will be opening up another branch for the Driggs Mortgage Team, also located right next door to her on Main Street. So we’re excited to be back in Helper,” said Event Sponsor, Greg Driggs. The co-sponsor West Cost Show Support is a lighting and production design company formed in 2016 in Southern California. They support a number of artists and production professionals in video production and live entertainment design.
