The Price Boys and Girls Club are excited to be participating in this year’s International Days Celebration. Director, Molli Mystrom was able to stop by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.
“We are actually running the wave pool on Friday from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm so bring your kids, have some fun, we’ve got some games going on. We’re also doing the movie nights on Friday and Saturday nights so stop on by grab your popcorn and nachos,” said Mystrom. They will also be working the concession stand for the car show on Saturday afternoon. All proceeds earned from the concession stand will benefit the Price Boys and Girls Club.
The club is also gearing up for the upcoming school year and will be hosting a registration period for parents to get their students signed up for the after-school program. “We’re going to start registering for school on the August 9. The club is actually closed that week but we’ll all be there getting ready for the school year so just stop on by 9:00 am to 5:00 pm and pick up a membership registration. Its only $20.00 for the whole school year, you can’t beat that. As I said the school busses do pick up from most of the schools here and they’ll drop them off at the club,” explained Mystrom. The club provides safe and fun out of school time activities for kids all through the Castle Valley.
Many of the students who attend the Price Boys and Girls Club receive assistance with homework every day. “Oh, academics is very, very big. Our biggest goal is to let the children have fun but teaching them and helping them without them knowing about it. We have a great STEM program and we also have a STEM Specialist that comes down from Salt Lake club and they teach at least once or twice a month on that and gives us new activities,” said Mystrom. The club is also working with USU Eastern students to have them come tutor students in the teen program.
Parents will also be thrilled that the club has an amazing reading program to inspires students to read more often. “We have a reading program that we did last year and we’re going to try to get that going again this year. We had kids that read 1,000 hours so it’s a really great program, we give them time to do that, we give them little prizes for every 100 minutes they read and we just keep the motivation there,” stated Mystrom.
