The Pinnacle Panthers baseball team opened the 2021 season on the road in Provo against the Telos Titans Monday afternoon. Despite scoring runs in the first, fourth and sixth innings, the Panthers struggled to find consistent offense in an eventual 10-4 loss.

Pinnacle scored the first run of the game in the opening inning to take an early 1-0 lead. Telos answered back in the bottom half of the frame with three runs to take the lead for good. The Titans added two runs in the second and one run in each of the following two innings to take complete control.

The Panthers answered back by plating two runs in the top of the sixth to cut the deficit to 7-4. Telos immediately responded with three runs of their own to round out the scoring for the game.

Tuesday’s meeting is the first of two this season. Pinnacle will play host to the next contest, which will take place on Tuesday, Sept. 14.

Pinnacle will now shift its attention to the home opener on Wednesday as they host Panguitch at Carlson-Colosimo Field, the homesite of the USU Eastern Eagles, at 3:00 p.m..

The Panthers and Panguitch last shared the field in the second round of the 2020 state tournament. Panguitch walked a 9-2 win, ending Pinnacle’s season.
