
For the second straight week the Carbon Dinos delivered a second place performance in a Region 12 meet, this time at Oquirrh Hills Tuesday afternoon.
Combining for a team score of 330 the Dinos finished 10 strokes behind Richfield, who extended their lead in the overall standings. Emery ended in third with 363 strokes, followed by Canyon View in fourth at 366. Grand once again rounded out the field of five in last.
Daron Garner registered his best performance at the varsity level as he finished with a 75, placing him second overall on the individual leaderboard. Bode Salas was second on the team with a 77.
Complimenting Garner and Salas was Branden Scoville and Kyler Clark who both shot an 89. Cole Yoklavich finished right behind with a 90, putting his score outside the team’s top four.
Grand’s Wyatt Toney walked away with the individual win as he shot an outstanding 72. Richfield’s Pace Mullen ended in third with a 76, followed by Salas in fourth.
Richfield’s overall win extends its lead at the top of the Region 12 standings to 15-strokes over Carbon. Both teams have developed a comfortable lead over third place Emery, who is currently 75-strokes out first place.
All five teams will take the remainder of the week off before returning to play on Monday, August 16 at the Moab Golf Course. The early week match will give the teams a full nine days off before the Aug. 25 match at Cove View.
