The Green River Lady Pirates volleyball team was in Wendover to face the Wildcats last Friday. In a highly competitive match the Pirates went four sets to take the win from the Wildcats 4-1, pushing their season record to 2-4.

The Lady Pirates jumped out taking set one 25-19. Set number two would be more of a battle as Wendover came fighting back, winning it 28-26. Set three and four were also tight going back and forth but Green River earned the win in those 27-25 and 25-19.

It’s almost time for the region season to begin, in fact, Aug. 31 is the first game of the conference schedule for Green River as they will welcome Pinnacle to town. Another date the Pirates will be looking forward to is September 11 when the fist RPI rankings will be released.

Up next for Green River is a visit from the Wayne Badgers. Wayne finished last season claiming the sixth spot in the 1A State Championship Tournament.

The match with Wayne is set to begin at 6:15.
