Rudy William Mezek, 93 years young, of Price, Utah, passed away peacefully of natural causes at his home of 73 years on August 28, 2021. He was loved by many as all his family and neighbors would agree.

He was born in Columbia, Utah to Frances and Frank Mezek on June 17,1928.

Rudy was a hard worker and filled many roles, some of which were a devoted husband and partner, a loving and caring father, and a friend to anyone and everyone. He was part of a large close-knit family and he and Shanna raised three beautiful children; Debra, Beckie and Jay.

Rudy loved to travel and went on many cruises and tours over the years which allowed him to see the world with his true soul mate, Shanna Deangeles Mezek, they were married for 62 loving years, Shanna preceded him in death in 2010.

Shanna and Rudy were very involved with their church, Notre Dame, and traveled often as instructors for the Marriage Encounter program.

In 2013, Rudy was fortunate to find love once again and was able to spend several fun filled years with his partner, Janice Miller, who also preceded him in death in 2020.

He loved everyone and even more so loved helping people in various ways; from new construction projects to remodeling to building computers and anything technology related. A real knack of his was to teach people how to slow down and make sure it’s right the first time to create perfection. When he wasn’t helping someone else he was busy with his own projects and had a serious case of ‘Tinkeritis’.

Rudy was a lifelong member and president of SNPJ. Every summer you could see Rudy at the annual Slovenian Festival in Price and if you were really lucky he would serenade you with the accordion, another of his true loves, of which he was a master.

He was a proud Marine and a member of the 12th Marine Corp District where he held the rank of Sergeant.

For many summers, as things heated up in Price, Rudy would take the family to spend time at their cabin on the lake in Scofield. Leaving the family with many wonderful memories of fishing, swimming and just relaxing.

Rudy was an avid hunter and fisherman and most importantly a serious lover of dogs! Toward the end of his life his son’s dog, Trinity, would not leave his side and they became fast inseparable friends. Trinity brought much joy to Rudy and Rudy is truly a dog’s best friend!

He is survived by his daughter, Debra Borba (Don- deceased); son, Jay Mezek (Petra); grandchildren, Shawn (Sasha) and Sonny (Bethany) Borba; great-grandchildren, Dakota and Madison Borba, Ethan and Gracie Borba, Gavin and Tanner Kraft; great-great-granddaughter Naava.
