It was a tremendous run while it lasted but the Emery Lady Spartan’s 17 game winning streak to start the season ended Tuesday night on the road in Cedar City at the hands of the Canyon View Falcons in four sets.

The Spartans were back and forth with the Falcons throughout the match. Canyon View won the first set, a close one, 26-24. Emery would storm back in set number two 25-12.

The final two sets belonged to Canyon View 25-22 and 25-19 as they claimed the match victory 3-1.

The loss doesn’t effect Emery in the standings, they are still sitting in the No. 3 spot in the RPI behind Carbon and Morgan, who holds the No. 1 spot.

Emery will be on the road this weekend as they will head to Richfield for a tournament at the Sevier Valley Center.  On Friday the are set to face Rich (No. 5 in 1A), San Juan (No. 19 in 2A) and South Sevier (No.9 in 2A).

After the Richfield tournament, the Spartans will return home to face the Grand County Red Devils (No. 15 in 3A), before ending the season the following Tuesday in Price to face the Dinos (No. 2 in 3A).

In their first meeting with Grand, Emery came away with the straight set win.

Game time is set for 6:30 at the Spartan Center in Castle Dale.
