Active Re-Entry is hosting a See’s Candies Fundraiser to help raise funds for their organizational programs. Terri Yelonek and Tracy Manchester stopped by Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details of the fundraiser and to highlight their low vision program.
The organization has teamed up with See’s Candies to host a fundraising event this year. This is a perfect time to purchase See’s Candies for the upcoming holidays. “So for the Christmas season as you mentioned, we’re selling See’s Candies, we’ve partnered with them and we don’t have to go door to door to sell candy, people can go to our website, it’s on the radio’s website, it’s on our Facebook page. They can order candy by scanning a code, a QR code that takes them to our storefront with See’s,” said Yelonek. Guests will be able to shop a wide array of chocolates, nuts, truffle, peanut brittle, peppermints and so much more. What is ordered by guests will be received directly from See’s Candies, as they will be shipping out the orders from their shop. All proceeds earned from candy sales will go towards Active Re-Entry’s programs.
“Because of our funding and because we’re a non-profit organization, we’re obligated to do fundraising activities to help support all of our programs. We have youth programs; we have programs for adults. So a lot of programs and the funding that we raise goes into supporting the programs across the board,” stated Yelonek. Those programs include, just to name a few, support groups, peer counseling, low vision services, transportation, service coordination.
“We help people who are dealing with vision loss. We have a support group that meets on the third Thursday of every month at 1:30 pm, gives them a chance to visit with each other, share their stories, talk about the vision loss, and their experiences and what helps them. Then we have low vision clinic, where they go to their eye provider and can get a referral and come out to Active Re-Entry and see the different equipment that they can purchase,” explained Manchester. They also loan out items to their clients such as big button telephones, lamps, medical equipment and magnifiers to help assist them with daily tasks.
