Leona Colleen Preston Potts was born March 1, 1937 in Sunnyside, Utah to Thomas Henry and Genevieve Peacock Preston. Her life would forever change when she asked the boy who sat next to her in history class at Carbon High School if he had suspenders she could borrow. She did borrow those bright yellow suspenders for a roadshow and ended up marrying Robert Lewis Potts in the Manti Temple in 1955. On November 14th they would have celebrated their 66th wedding anniversary.
Colleen worked in child nutrition for 30 years. She loved being a school lunch lady at Durrant Elementary and served the students of Carbon High for over 20 years. She spent 14 years cooking at the Clear Creek Summer Camp.
She was very devoted to her faith where she served in the Primary and Young Women programs. She was a member Support Missionary at the Hiawatha Branch and the Relief Society Assistant at the Heirloom Inn.
Colleen was a collector of artifacts, a player of polka and a creator of quilts.
She created a sense of home where everyone was welcome and family home evening nights were gatherings where you were guaranteed some popcorn, some laughter and some wisdom.
Survived by her husband, Robert Sr., 5 children, Diane (Steve) Carlson, Leslie (Roger) Tolley, Robert Jr. (Lynette) Potts, Michael (Connie) Potts, Edward (Corrie) Potts; 18 grandchildren; 41 great-grandchildren.
Preceded in death by her parents; her sister, Gaylene Kay Jensen; and her great-granddaughter, Kamdyn Lilly Cloward.
A very special thanks to her granddaughter Jenile Tolley for her generosity of time, love and care over the last year as well as the health care providers, Jade and Chelsea.
