After finishing the season 27-2 and claiming third place in 3A, the Lady Spartans were likely to land some names on the all-state list, and when the Deseret News released them today, three members of the squad received honors. Madisyn Childs earned first team honors for the Spartans while Tambrie Tuttle and Baylee Jacobson found themselves getting third team honors. All-state teams are based on coaches votes from a list of nominated players and then are published in the Deseret News.
This is the second time that Childs has received the honor, last year in 2020 she was listed as an honorable mention. In 2021 she collected 256 kills 169 blocks and 249 digs to land herself on the first team.
Seniors Tambrie Tuttle and Baylee Jacobson landed on the third team list.
Kinslee Drake of Union was named the 3A Most Valuable Player for the season.
The 2021 season will go down as the year of the streak for the Spartans, winning their first 17 in a row while losing just five sets in that span. Finishing off the season at 27-2 Emery lost just 12 sets all year.
Emery came just one match short of the championship game falling to eventual state champion Union in the semi-finals. They went on to beat Richfield to claim third place.
