Castle Country Radio was able to speak over the telephone with Castle Dale City’s Mayor Danny VanWagoner to speak about all the wonderful things that took place over the year.

As with many cities in the area, water conservation was a hot topic over the summer and Castle Dale residents did a phenomenal job with their water efforts. “I can say water during this year, Castle Dale residents, we dropped by 30 percent, what we usually use out there, and that is to be commended. The city did a really good job at tightening their belts and I think that people are going to look at it as a different animal moving forward. I think conservation in water is going to be right up there more,” said Mayor VanWagoner. The city was so proud of the efforts that citizens put into saving water over the summer and the numbers prove their hard work paid off.

There were many festivals/celebrations that took place over the year, all were well attended and a huge success. “Our rodeos, the high school rodeo and the rodeo that played during our Castle Dale Days was phenomenal. It brought in a lot of different participants and it was a really good time. The Joe’s Fest was off the wall, the numbers were probably 500 to 600 people coming here for this climbing on the rocks, and it was a four-day event, it was participated really well,” stated Mayor VanWagoner. The annual Joe’s Bouldering Festival is a huge event that grows bigger and bigger each year, it brings in some of the most elite climbing competitors from around the nation.

Castle Dale is always up for a good time and they have their Beat the Winter Blues Festival coming up in January. “Well, this is going to be towards the end, this is the end of January, we’re going to have a Beat the Winter Blues Festival at the Emery Rec Center here is Castle Dale. There will be booths, food, entertainment, cornhole tournaments, hay rides, and once again good ice skating,” explained Mayor VanWagoner. Currently, the community ice skating rink is open for residents to enjoy during the cold, winter months.
