The Price Kiwanis is sponsoring a contest to celebrate their 100 years and they are needing assistance from children in Carbon and Emery Counties to help them have a great celebration. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Kiwanis Member, Nick Tatton to discuss all the details.

“To celebrate the 100-year birthday, Kiwanis is asking that all the kids in the Castle Country area, age 12 and under, consider sending in a, we got a little form that they can get here at the radio station or online or contact anybody. But we got a little form that you fill out with your name, address, phone number and your age, we ask that you submit your comments about Price Kiwanis, what it’s done to benefit the community, the kids,” stated Tatton. This can be in the form of an essay, color a picture or draw a picture, write a note or poem. The contest will be judged on a first-come-first-served basis for qualifying entries and all winners will be determined at the sole discretion of Price Kiwanis.

“What we want to do is giveaway 100 different age-appropriate gift bags of things to different kids over the course of basically the next 100 days and then we’re going to have a big birthday party and invite all the kids in the community to the birthday party. So we haven’t set that date yet, waiting to see how the weather is turning out and a few things like that, but probably down the road in April, early May time frame,” explained Tatton.  Submissions can be given to any Price Kiwanis member or sent to Price Kiwanis, P.O. Box 103, Helper UT  84526, and clearly marked 100-Year Birthday Celebration Submission.

The Kiwanis has been a huge staple in the community and their fundraising efforts benefit a lot of children in the area. “We serve the kids in both the Carbon and Emery areas, the Castle Country area. We’re real proud about the fundraisers we do, of course we do the Radio Auction every Spring out here at the radio station, that’s a big fundraiser. We do the Duck Race up at Scofield during Pleasant Valley Days and all that money gets raised and goes to the benefit of children in the community,” stated Tatton. The funds are used to help children with scholarships, eye glasses, hearing aids, educational and sporting opportunities.
