The Price Kiwanis is looking to celebrate their 100 years by hosting a contest and they are looking for submissions from children in the Castle Country area. Price Kiwanis Member, Nick Tatton stopped by Castle Country Radio to share all the details.
“Technically it was January 4, 1922 was the original charter and so now Price Kiwanis is 100 years old and the celebration that we figured out that we would like to do is to give away 100 age-appropriate gift bags to 100 kids over basically the next 100 days,” stated Tatton. The contest is asking children to indicate, “Why the Price Kiwanis makes a difference in the lives of children in the Castle Country area.” The types of submissions the club is looking for is a picture colored or sketched, a note, letter or poem.
Registration forms to submit a writing or drawing can be found at Castle Country Radio or from any Kiwanis member. “Come on out, get your gift bag and help us celebrate. At the end of the gift bag program, we plan to have a big birthday party and invite all the kids from the Castle Country area out. That will probably be sometime in, I would guess, by the time we get there, but probably around the first of May, maybe let the weather get a little bit better,” said Tatton. This contest is open to all children ages 12 and under. Submissions are to be returned to a Kiwanis Member or mailed to P.O. Box 103, Helper UT 84526.
Price Kiwanis hosts several fundraising events throughout the year and their biggest event is coming up on Sunday, April 3. “It’s been taking place for 54 years now, I think and always the first part of April is the traditional date. We had a little miss up a couple of cycles back with the Corona pandemic but we’re back on the regular cycle so April 3, Sunday, April 3, the club will be out here, we’ll be taking over the radio station, 1400-1500 items from the community that are donated. Gift certificates, products, services of all types and we auction those off, live on the air,” said Tatton. The entire community can participate in the annual radio auction by calling in and placing bids on the services and products donated by local businesses and merchants. The items range from tools, restaurant certificates, beauty certificates, auto detailing, movie tickets, paintings and photography images, there is sure to be something that appeals to everyone.
Any individuals who would like to be a part of the Kiwanis Club and would like to know more about the club may attend their weekly meetings on Thursday evening at 7:30 pm at the Carbon Country Club or contact any current club member.
