
The No.4 Lady Spartans took the long road trip to Cedar City on Friday to face the Canyon View Falcons. This was the second meeting between the two squads and it echoed the first, an Emery Spartan win 65-41.
The Spartans and Falcons met up back on Jan. 14 with Emery claiming the 59-23 win behind Tambrie Tuttle’s 16 and Baylee Jacobson’s 14. Jacobson would control this one scoring 22 for Emery.
The Spartans were ready for Canyon View as they jumped out quickly in the first half 23-16. The Falcons were led by senior Harlee Nicoll with 15, but she was the only one to score in double digits for the Falcons.
It was really the second half where the Lady Spartans found their groove and put the Falcons away for good. Scoring 16 in the third and 26 in the fourth, Emery didn’t let them up for air with great defense, holding them to 14 in the third and just 11 points in the fourth.
Jacobson added 10 rebounds, three assist and two steals to her 22 points. Tuttle got on the board with 15, four rebounds and four assists and Addie Lester had six with three rebounds, two assists and three steals in the big region win for Emery.
The Lady Spartans will now look ahead to Thursday when they welcome in the No. 1 team in 3A, the Richfield Wildcats. Back on January 6, these two teams locked horns in Richfield with the home team taking a 64-47 win.
After that there will be just two games left on the schedule for Emery: Tuesday Feb. 8 at home against Real Salt Lake Academy and then they will wrap up the regular season on Thursday in Price as they will face the Carbon Dinos.
The game with Richfield will take place in the Spartan Center Thursday. Game time is set for 7:00
