As the season is beginning to wind down, the Lady Dinos faced their final non-region competition, Real Salt Lake Academy, Thursday night in the gym at Carbon High. The game went back and forth, but the Dinos were able to hang on and claim the 52-48 win, behind 25 points from Sydney Orth.

Real is a charter school located in Herriman, and plays independently. Teams on their schedule this season have included Lehi, North Sevier and Skyline, they also have an upcoming contest with Emery.

The Dinos had their hands full with Real, and the game was as close as the final score would indicate. Neither team could really pull away coming to the end of the first half Real would hold a slim 23-20 lead.

In the second half, Carbon would slowly begin to chip away at the lead and eventually took the game over holding on to take the 52-48 victory.

Sydney Orth led Carbon with 25 points, five rebounds and two assists in the win. Orth has been averaging 9.2 points per game.  Hayley Garrish added nine points and five rebounds, Beverly Lancaster added eight with six boards.

The Lady Dinos are 11-7 at this point in the season and also sit in the No.8 position in the RPI. They have just two games left on the schedule starting this Saturday with a road trip to Cedar City against Canyon View, they will follow that up with a home game next Thursday for Senior night against the No.3 Emery Spartans.

Saturday’s game at Canyon View is set to start at 3:00 p.m..
