Tuesday night was “Senior Night” in the Spartan Center as the Lady Spartans took on the Real Salt Lake Academy Griffins. Emery jumped out quick putting up 28 in the first quarter as a dozen Lady Spartans put points on the board and they earned the 66-20 win.

The Spartans will say good bye to seniors Baylee Jacobson, Dacie Ungerman, Tylee Norton, Brynn Gordon, Addie Lester, Tambrie Tuttle and Madisyn Childs at the end of this season, but until that point there is still basketball to be played.

Emery put up 28 points in the first quarter to just seven from RSL Academy. The Spartans would dominate on the defensive side of the ball in quarter number two, not allowing the Griffins to score and took a 41-7 lead to the locker room at halftime.

Coming out in the second half with the game well in hand Emery would continue to build on the lead that they had established in the first half, closing out their opponents by 46 points.

It was fitting that seniors would lead the way Tuesday night as Jacobson led the Spartans with nine points  two rebounds and three assists. Ungerman added eight with three boards and five steals and Norton and Gordon both scored seven, Norton would add four rebounds and Gordon two boards and three steals.

The Spartans hold the No. 3 spot in the 3A RPI with a 16-4 record overall and a 4-1 mark in region play. The final RPI and bracket for the 3A Championships will be released Saturday, we will then know exactly who Emery will play in the first round.

The Spartans will receive a first round bye and will play their opening round match next Friday February 18.

Thursday night is the final game of the regular season and they will be on the road to take on the Carbon Dinos for their Senior Night. You can follow all the action on KOAL 107.3 FM or 750 AM. You can also stream the game live at castlecountryradio.com
