
The Carbon soccer team headed to St. George last weekend playing three games in two days starting Friday. The Dinos came away 1-2 from the weekend playing teams from Cedar City, the Wasatch front and Hurricane.
Below is a recap of matches played at the St. George Tournament.
Mar.11- Cedar- Loss- 1-0
In the first match of the weekend the Dinos faced the Cedar Reds, the Reds ended last season with an 8-11 record, falling to Dixie in second round of the state playoffs.
Both teams played a very defensive first half but in the end the Reds were able to put a goal on the board in the second half taking the 1-0 win.
Mar. 11- American Leadership Academy- Win- 6-2
In the match with American Leadership the Dinos had their best offensive output of the season taking the 6-2 victory.
American Leadership ended last season 4-15 after falling to Morgan in the second round of the playoffs.
Jackson Griffeth led the way for the Dinos scoring three goals in the contest. Miguel Ordonez scored two goals and gathered two assists, Joe Morley added one goal. Max Solhaug added two assists while Maxence Trikilis and Parker Morgan had one in the rout.
Mar. 12- Hurricane- Loss-3-2(OT)
In the final match of the weekend the Dinos faced the Hurricane Tigers from 5A. Hurricane is playing under first year head coach Rafael Novoa. Last season the Tigers went 3-13 and lost to Uintah in the first round of the state playoffs.
Both teams went goal for goal in the first and second half forcing the game to go to overtime where Hurricane was able to put one more goal up taking the 3-2 win in the extra period.
For the Dinos it was Oronez coming up with both goals, Griffeth was the assist man on both.
The Dinos travel to Richfield on Tuesday to face the Wildcats.
On Friday they will take on the Emery Spartans in Castle Dale under the lights. The game is set to begin at 7 p.m..
