The Carbon boys tennis team welcomed teams from Richfield, Manti and Union on Monday to the Price City courts for the Carbon Invitational. Originally schedule to take place on Mar. 11 it was moved to Monday, with all the action starting at 8:30. At the end of the day Carbon would finish with team wins against Union and Manti and lost their match to Richfield, putting the Dinos in second place for the meet.
In the first matches of the day with Union, Derrick Jorgensen to the win in 1st singles. Cameron Jones earned the win in 3rd singles and in 1st doubles the team of Alex Callahan and Branden Scovill as well as the second doubles team of Zac Gregersen and Garrett Bryner claimed wins, as Carbon defeated Union 4-1.
Carbon struggled with Richfield with only two match wins. Jones would once again come out on top in his match in 3rd singles, and the 1st doubles team of Callahan and Scovill collected their second win of the tournament, but the Dinos would fall in the team match 3-2.
The final matches of the day would be against Manti. Jorgensen got back on the winning side with a straight set win. Nathan Baudin earned a win in his 2nd singles match and Callahan and Scovill would get the clean sweep winning their third match of the day. Carbon went on to win the match 3-2.
Up next the Dinos will travel to Manti to face the Templars on Wednesday. Carbon will be back on the home courts on April 14 when they welcome Gunnison.
