If you like to hike and want to help raise money for a charity close to your heart, Price City has a new program you will love. Kathy Sherman with Price City called into the KOAL Studios to talk about Price City’s new program, Hiking is My Therapy.

“The idea is to promote health and wellness, but it’s also to raise money for charity;” states Sherman. When asked how the program works, Sherman said it’s very easy to become involved. “What they can do, is we have a few charities already chosen by teams and they can choose to go on one of those or they can wait and see what we get for participants after April 15, and then we’re going to pick charities at that time and then they can choose whichever team they want to be on and represent that charity;” says Sherman.

There is a registration fee of $25.00 that will go directly to the charity that your team is representing. Sherman stated that the trails have been picked out already for the participants. “We will have 10 trails, 2 per month, beginning May 2. So you’ll be required to hike the trail, find the land marker on the trail, and that land marker can be between 1-2 miles, you’ll have to take a picture with the land maker and email or text it to me or your team leader for proof. If you hike the trail you pay $5 and if you do not hike the trail you pay $10. The purpose of this is to raise as much money as we can for charity.”

You will get to see some new country and you’ll be able to hike with your pets and family. You will receive maps and directions to get to every trailhead and land marker. Some of the trails that you will hike are Good Water Rim East, Wyatt’s Way, Gordon Creek, and Tie Fork plus several others.

Price City has had employee walks before but decided they wanted to open this up to all residents. Sherman said, “Well why don’t we incorporate this into the community and involve everybody and see how it goes and try to raise some funds for charity.” Now’s the time to get your teams together and sign up for this fun event by Friday, April 15.
