The Utah High School Activities Association released the first RPI of the season and the Lady Dinos and the Lady Spartans both represented Region 12 well with the Dinos taking the top spot and Emery takes the No. 3 position. The RPI will be updated daily until the end of the regular season.
The RPI is a mathematical equation that ranks teams by the strength of their schedule and is based on three different parameters: the teams winning percentage , their opponents winning percentage and their opponents opponents winning percentage. The equation gives each team a percentage and then those numbers are used to rank each team throughout the season. With the playoffs coming up in May, teams can get an idea as to whom they may be playing when the time comes.
Carbon is followed by Morgan and then Emery, Grantsville and Canyon View make up the top five. With three teams from Region 12 in the top five the remainder of the regular season should very competitive.
The Lady Dinos are coming off a 14-1 win over Cedar Valley on Wednesday. Friday they will face off with the Emery in Huntington. They will then head into Spring Break and won’t take to the field again until April 12 when they will welcome Canyon View to Price.
Emery is coming off a 10-0 win over Richfield and faces Carbon on Friday. On Saturday they head to Payson to take part in a tournament and following that , like the Dinos they will be back on the field on April 12 when they will welcome Richfield to the new field in Castle Dale.
