Game 1 Loss- 9-1

Ky Decker got the start on the mound and looked good in his outing. Westin Corless came in and kept the hot bats off balance.  Utah state Eastern collected four hits in the game; two from Jake Mortensen. The Eagles only run of the game came on a home run by Vaughn Deming. Eastern had opportunities to score in many innings and hope to capitalize on those chances as the series continues.

“We are right in games just waiting to break out. With a young group we have to be patient they are learning and getting better. Soon we will see players stepping up in those big time moments” stated head coach Kirk Haney.

Game 2- Loss-12-2- Seven Innings

Utah State Eastern looked good out of the gate scoring two in the first inning but could not maintain that momentum. Hayden Brock was on the mound for the Eagles.  At the plate Eastern only score the two runs. Eastern did collect 8 hits in the game being led by Payton Norman with 2 hits. Jake Mortensen and Scott Bahde each had the two RBIs.

Game 3- Win- 8-5- Seven Innings

Kody Nelson took the mound for the Eagles in game two of the Friday series. Kody allowed just five hits while striking out six in his 4.1 innings pitched. The pitching staff also had great outings from Dylan Hawkes and Nate Rhineer to sell the victory for Eastern

At the plate the Eagles were led by bundling with three hits and two RBIs.  Utah State Eastern had five players with multiple hits in the game and ended with 12 as a team. Gabe Childs had a double and Payton Norman had a triple in the game. The Eagles put together a great team win.

Game 4- Loss- 5-1

Utah State Eastern fell short in the final day of games against CSN. Eastern had a great outing from Carson Hawkes who threw 6 innings, striking out 9 while only giving up three runs. The Eagles battled hard throughout the entire game and gave themselves chances to take control of the game in countless innings.

At the plate Eastern was led by Gabe Childs who had two hits in the game. Kaden Kunz came across the plate for the Eagles the only run of the game.

“There were many good things that came from this weekend,” said head coach Kirk Haney.  “We are learning each time we take the field. I was pleased with our players for stepping up when needed. We are building a good ball club here and are seeing our young players gain the confidence they need to make a big push late in this season.”
