The Lady Dinos have been protecting the No.1 ranking in 3A this season and in their last five games they have out scored their opponents 65-9. In their game on Friday against the Lady Spartans, Carbon started fast and finished with a 10-5 win moving to 13-3 this season and 3-0 in Region 12 play.

Emery entered the game winning three of their last four and sitting at 11-6 overall and a region record of 3-2.

Carbon pounced first putting nine runs up in the first two innings. Haven Byerly kept the Spartans on their toes from the mound going 6.2 innings giving up five runs (one earned) on five hits as she struck-out 13. Tenley Madsen came in to close out the contest. Byerly and Madsen chipped in offensively as well with Madsen going 2-4 at the plate adding three RBI’s. Byerly was 1-3 with two RBI’s and Stevie Oman added an RBI as well.

In the fifth and sixth innings, Emery found four runs to get the game within four. Aspen Taylor went 1-3 for the Spartans with an RBI, and Taija Olsen garnered two walks with an RBI and a run scored. On the mound, Cambrie Jensen got the start giving up three earned, Madisyn Childs entered going four innings giving up on earned.

Emery is sitting at the No. 6 in the state RPI, and has a fairly quiet week ahead with a pair of games. Starting Tuesday when they travel to Cedar City to take on No.5 Canyon View. They welcome 2A’s No. 4 team, Gunnison Valley on Wednesday. game time is set for 3:30 p.m..

Carbon still sits atop the RPI ranking for 3A, and has a busy week on tap, playing four games in four days. Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday they will be home to face No.13 Grand, No. 11 Juab and No. 14 Richfield. On March 25, Carbon traveled to face Richfield on their home field wining the contest 21-0. All games will be at the Carbon County Softball Complex at the fairgrounds and are scheduled for 3:30 p.m..

Thursday, the Lady Dinos head on the road to Moab for their final regular season meeting with Grand. These two teams met up once already at the March Warm-up Elite Tournament with Carbon taking the 11-1 win in four innings.
