For the second time this season Haven Byerly struck out 16 batters in a gem of an outing for the Dinos. Carbon added six runs spread throughout the contest and defensively behind Byerly, kept the Juab Wasps off the board in a 6-0 shutout.

Back in March, Byerly struck out 16 in Vernal against the Uintah Utes in the 5-3 victory. On Tuesday, against the Wasps she gave up just three hits in the win.

Makayla Scovill got things going for the Lady Dinos in the bottom of the first inning with a single to left that allowed Mollie Horsley to score. Scovill had a great day at the plate going 2-4 driving in two runs. Horsley was responsible for three runs going 3-3.

Headed into the bottom of the fourth up 1-0, Gianna Bruno picked up right where she left off the day before, sending a three run shot over the wall in right field. Bruno would end the day going 2-3 with three RBI’s.

Carbon still owns the No.1 spot in the 3A RPI and will be tested with two more games this week against region competition.

First up on Wednesday, the will welcome the Richfield Wildcats to Price. In their first meeting at the Wildcats ballpark, Carbon made quick work of Richfield 21-1 in three innings.

The Dinos will turn around on Thursday and travel to Moab to face the Grand County Red Devils for the second time this week. On Monday , Carbon started their stretch of four games in four days by beating the Red Devils 17-1.

The game against Richfield will be held at the Carbon County Softball Complex at the fairgrounds. Game time is set for 3:30.
