Seven Emery High School senior student-athletes have been recognized for their excellence in the classroom during the 2016 fall season with a selection to the Academic All-State team in their respective sport by the Utah High School Activities Association and the Deseret News.
Cross country runners Erin Hurst and Allyson Woolsey joined eight others throughout the 2A classification on the Academic All-State team after the group of 10 accumulated a 3.996 GPA. Hurst also excelled in the field after recently finishing fifth overall in the state championship meet last week.
Cross country runner Daryl Guymon was one of 10 to be named to the boys Academic All-State team, who combined to produce a 3.997 accumulative GPA. Guymon was also a key instrument in the cross country team finishing second overall at the state championship meet.
Volleyball player Kabri Butler joined a stellar group of 10 girls who combined for a perfect 4.000 GPA. Butler has also helped the Lady Spartans clinch the No. 3 seed from Region 15 in the upcoming state tournament, taking place this Friday in Orem at Utah Valley University.
Football lineman Ty Mecham was one of 10 selected to the 3A Academic team after the group combined for a 3.999 GPA. Mecham has been a three year starter for the football team and has helped them advance to the state tournament for the second consecutive season.
The Emery girl’s tennis also had two representatives as Aubreyona Migliori and Teren Miller joined eight others for a 3.947 cumulative GPA.
