As the regular season starts to wind down, the Spartans found themselves in Cedar City on Thursday to face the Canyon View Falcons. This was the second and final time these two would face off in the season. Back in March the Falcons traveled to Castle Dale and Emery handed them a 2-0 loss. In Cedar City on Thursday, Canyon View returned the favor by the same score handing the Spartans a 2-0 loss.

Canyon View would come out in the first half putting up a single goal and keeping Emery off the scoreboard.

Half number two was the same, another Falcon goal and no score for Emery.

The loss moves Emery to 6-6 overall and a 4-3 region mark. The state RPI that is maintained by the Utah High School Activities Association has been removed from view and won’t resurface until April 27, when the final rankings will be released as will the state tournament brackets.

The first round of the playoffs will begin on April 29. The first three rounds will take place at home sites.

Starting on May 10, the semi-finals will take place at Jordan High School, with the State Championship Game taking place the next day at Rio Tinto Stadium.

Last season, Emery made it to the semi’s losing to eventual runner-up Morgan, who lost in the championships to Judge Memorial.
