Julie Lynn Chorniak Johnson “Grandma Jujubee” left us too soon following complications from surgery. She passed away at home on April 24, 2022 at the age of 71.
Julie was born in American Fork, Utah on July 18, 1950 to June Beers Chorniak and Joseph Chorniak. She grew up in Pleasant Grove and graduated from Pleasant Grove High School.
Julie married her life long partner, Mont Johnson on January 22, 1971. They lived in Pleasant Grove until 1991 when employment brought them to Ferron, Utah. Julie made the best of her life away from her sisters and friends building a beautiful home, garden, and making many close friends in the community. She did not hesitate to run back and forth from Utah county to Ferron when she thought anyone could use her help or support.
Julie had a knack for making everything beautiful. Her yard and home was her happy place and was always kept absolutely gorgeous. Everyone who stopped in or drove by shared some of that happiness. She was a gifted quilter and crafter who spent a lot of happy hours with her sisters and friends in quilting and craft groups. Julie also loved the time she spent playing Bunco with all of her friends around Ferron.
Julie was a great person, who so many (including her children) considered one of their best friends. No matter what time of day or night you could count on her insisting on making a meal, a snack, and a cup of coffee. She had a way with words and did not hesitate to say what she thought. Julie was quick witted and kept us laughing with her dry sense of humor. She held a deep concern for everyone in her life and never forgot a birthday or occasion. She would drop everything to stay with her grandkids or come to any family dinner or event. Julie was loved by so many and never met a stranger.
Julie loved her family most of all. Her kids, grandkids, great grandkids and sisters were her world. We will be forever lost without her. She was our rock. There was never any doubt that she would be there for us. She inspired us to be better than we are. Her example will be with us always.
Julie will be deeply missed by her husband, Mont Johnson; children, Wendy Johnson, Monica (Chad) Jacob, Ryan (Angie) Johnson, Amiee (Ray) Gunter, and Casey (Brittney) Johnson; 12 grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; and innumerable friends and family.
Julie is preceded in death by her parents; brother, Dennis Chorniak; sister, Dolores Nielson; and granddaughter, Amber Johnson.
A life greatly lived deserves to be celebrated.
