Carbon High School Graduation ceremony is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 25 at 6:00 pm at the football field. Principal Jared Hardy took time from his busy schedule to sit down with Castle Country Radio to discuss all the details.

The last day of school for high school seniors is May 18. “The 18th will be our last swan song for the seniors. We’ll end the day with an awards assembly for the seniors who can get scholarships, if they earned scholarships, they get awarded those and we do some school awards and that’s how we’ll end their time with us here in the building that day,” said Principal Hardy. This gathering will recognize students for their accomplishments throughout the school year.

Although, seniors last day of school is on the May 18 they are required to return to school on May 20 to complete the process of checking out of school. There is no school on this day but high school seniors are still required to come in. “So on the May 20 it’s a Professional Development Day so teachers and staff are here working but no students. But seniors can come in turn in their Chromebooks, make sure all their outstanding fees are paid. Once that is all checked off, they can pick up their graduation tickets and they’ll be good to go for graduation next week,” stated Principal Hardy. It’s important that each senior goes through the check-out process so that they are squared away with the school.

Each graduate will receive five tickets. However, of those five tickets, two of those tickets are marked priority just in case of inclement weather. “The tickets that the students receive two of them will be of different color and they’ll say on it priority ticket. So if we have to move into the auditorium, due to the number of graduates we have, which is awesome we’ve got quite a big, large, class graduating this year. They’ll have two priority tickets and the two that get those tickets will be the ones that would be able to come in to the auditorium to watch in person,” explained Principal Hardy. There will be a Livestream link available for people to watch online if they are unable to attend.

Any parents/guardians who have any questions can get on the school’s website to access the high school graduation info page. “We have our graduation information on our website, there’s just a link there that anybody can go and find. Also, they can contact Mrs. Baker, our librarian, she’s our Graduation Coordinator she can answer any questions, or email, or phone call, or whatever is needed,” said Principal Hardy. Mrs. Baker can be reached at (435) 637-2463 or by email at bakerh@carbonschools.org
