Both Carbon & Emery County are ready to kick-off the summer with a 4-H Star Wars Summer Camp scheduled for Thursday, June 2 at 9:00 am till 3:30 pm at the Jennifer Leavitt Student Center on the campus of USU-Eastern. Castle Country Radio was able to sit down with Coordinator, DeLayna Barr and Assistant Professor, Rowe Zwahlen to discuss all the details.
“This was our teen council here in Carbon County that they are in charge of this summer camp, I just gave them the what do you want to do? What theme? They started brain storming and they all jumped on the Star Wars theme and came up with so many great ideas that they have even spent time on their outfits, and planning and it’s going to be great,” explained Barr. The Teen Council have been working tirelessly to organized and develop a fun camp for children ages 8 to 18 years old.
A $20.00 summer camp fee will cover all the activities, including lunch and a camp t-shirt. All of the camp’s activities are geared around the Star Wars theme. “We’re going to have a drone show with USU Eastern Drone Academy, and we’re going to make Galactic Slime, we’re going to do a Chewbacca craft, we’re going to make light sabers, launch rockets, some face painting, paper pod racing, and of course we’re going to have some other drones and BB8 robots going on,” stated Barr. The kids are sure to enjoy every event and activity being presented during the summer camp.
Children who wish to participate in the Summer Camp must be a member of the 4-H organization as Zwahlen explains, “Being a member of 4-H is pretty easy. You need to be at least 8 years old and then you can sign-up online https://4h.zsuite.org/ is the website.
