Carbon High School golfers Savanna Rasmussen and Grace Simms have each earned an All-State Honorable Mention for their performance during the 2021-22 season, it was announced by the PGA Utah Section on Monday.

Rasmussen, a junior, finished 14th overall at the 3A State Championship Tournament on May 11 and 12 at Oquirrh Hills Golf Course in Tooele.

Leading Carbon to a second-place finish in Region 12 during the regular season, Rasmussen posted the team’s low score at the State Tournament. Finishing the first day with a 93, Rasmussen secured pars on hole No. 1 and 15, while notching 12 bogeys. Day two worked out similar for Rasmussen as she shot a 95, giving her a two-day total of 188.

Freshman Grace Simms was another bright spot on the team throughout the season and closed out the final stages of the campaign with a 25th place performance at the State Tournament.

Gathering six pars throughout the two-day competition Simms finished a final score of 200. After shooting a 98 in day one, Simms finished out the season with a 102 in day two.

The Professional Golfers Association of America Utah Section selects the top 30 golfers in each classification to the All-State Teams. The selections are based purely on performance on the course, placing the top 10 on the First Team, the next 10 on the Second Team and the final 10 on the Honorable Mention list.
