The Price Raptors American Legion team is getting ready for another fun summer of play beginning on June 9 with a double header against Duchesne at the Carbon High Fields.  Coach Willie Ellington loves this time of year, getting out on the diamond and having families come together to watch some ball.

Ellington was a guest on KOAL’s Drive Time Sports recently and talked about his approach to fielding a team in the 17U American Legion league.

“We have Pinnacle High School and other kids from the surrounding communities and areas like Green River and Emery county. Kids want to come in and play you know, we want  to give them that opportunity this season. This is what the 17 and under Price American Legion team is all about, you want to come out and participate come on out. I just love to see the desire that these kids have in their eyes when they even get a base hit, catch a line drive or catch a fly ball, I love the atmosphere, I just love the chatter of the game and what I enjoy really the most is the family thing. The parents that have a son or a daughter that wants to come out and play, just to sit there and watch them run around on the field and enjoy the youth. You know if you look at some of the things that goes on in the world. like look what happened in Texas. To lose those young kids like that, so if a parent can come out and enjoy their son or their daughter in a great atmosphere of baseball, that’s what kind of keeps me going.”
