
Robert Lewis Potts Jr., age 63, unexpectedly passed away June 27, 2022, at the place he loved the most, our family cabin in Scofield, Utah
Bob was born to Robert Lewis Potts Sr. and Leona Colleen Preston on June 15, 1959, in Price, Utah. He was the third of five children. Bob lived in and attended school in Price, Utah. He graduated from Carbon High School in 1977 and then served an LDS mission in Taipei, Taiwan. Following his mission, he attended the College of Eastern Utah on a basketball scholarship. He received his associate degree from CEU and later completed his bachelor’s degree from Utah State University.
He met his wife Lynette Atwood while attending CEU. They were married on July 2, 1982, and one year later were sealed together for time and all eternity in the Salt Lake Temple. Bob passed away just five days shy of what would have been their 40th wedding anniversary. Together they have four children.
Bob was an extremely hard worker and liked to constantly stay busy. Throughout his career in technology, he was employed by Price City, The College of Eastern Utah and SouthEast Education Service Center. He coached at Carbon High School and CEU, as well as various sport teams for his children. He continued his love for athletics by working as the game management director for the USU Eastern athletic programs.
Bob loved working outside. He took great pride in his yard and garden. He was incredibly skilled and handy and was always working on projects in his home, the cabin and the homes of his children.
Bob served the people he loved through various callings in his church and volunteered for the Price City Fire Department and Hazmat for over 20 years. Because of his service to others, his family has been blessed by countless acts of love at this very difficult time, and they are truly grateful. Bob was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a deep testimony of the love of our Savior Jesus Christ and his atonement and a great love for his family.
He is survived by his wife, Lynette Atwood Potts; children, Laura (Andrew) Heaton, Adam (Kathleen) Potts, Julia (Luke) Shettell, Kayleigh (Daulton) Nelson; grandchildren, Lydia, Hyrum, and Emma Shettell, Grayson Nelson, as well as two grand babies on the way; father, Robert Potts Sr.; siblings, Diane (Steven) Carlson, Leslie (Roger) Tolley, Michael (Connie) Potts, Edward (Corrie) Potts; and sisters-in-law, Carol (Lester) Thayn, Beverly (Don) Blackburn, and Shirley Atwood.
Bob was preceded in death by his mother, Colleen Potts.
Funeral service, Tuesday, July 5, 2022, 11:00 a.m., Price Eighth Ward Chapel (940 East 700 North). The family will receive friends Monday evening from 6-8:00 p.m. and an hour prior to the service on Tuesday, both at the church. Interment, Cliffview Cemetery, Price, Utah.
